PAE MURRAY, SINGER,
SONGWRITER, STORYTELLER, INSPIRATION.

BIOGRAPHY

A Voice Carved by Fire, Raised in Light

In the soulful spaces where truth meets melody, Patience Murray—also known as Pae Murray—emerges as more than a singer-songwriter. She’s a storyteller, a survivor, and a vessel of resilience whose journey sings long after the music fades.

Born in the heart of Philadelphia, Patience’s life has been a symphony of pain and purpose. At just two years old, her mother left, and her childhood unfolded in the care of her grandmother—a sanctuary that was shattered when leukemia claimed her at age 12. From that moment on, Patience’s life was shaped by movement, loss, and the constant search for stability. Yet through it all, she carried an heirloom she didn’t know was hers: her mother’s singing voice. That voice would become her compass and her calling.

Though raised in environments that questioned the practicality of a music career, Patience never stopped believing in the power of her voice. She graduated valedictorian of her high school class and earned a full scholarship to NYU, a testament to both her academic brilliance and unshakable drive.

But nothing could have prepared her for what came next.

In 2016, during a trip to Orlando, Patience was shot twice and held hostage for three hours during the Pulse Nightclub mass shooting. Her body was broken. Her heart was shattered. But her spirit? Untouched.

She returned to NYU to finish her degree. She picked up her pen. And eventually, she picked up the mic again.

In 2020, she lost her brother Kevin—an R&B artist whose dream of making music was left unfinished. The grief, layered with global chaos, marital challenges, and spiritual exhaustion, almost silenced her. But instead, it deepened her resolve.

In his honor, Patience recommitted to the dream they both shared. She became a Legacy Scholar with the onePULSE Foundation and was awarded a music scholarship to attend Full Sail University. Though she later stepped away to pursue a more aligned creative path, the lessons she gained continue to shape her sound.

In 2023, Patience released her powerful singles “Champion” and “We Need”—songs that confront gun violence, collective grief, and the need for healing head-on. But it’s her latest release, “Pen Cry” featuring GRAMMY®-nominated poet Ty Scott King, that marks a new era. Blending spoken word and soul, the track is a healing anthem for anyone who's ever felt silenced, dismissed, or unseen.

Patience is also the creator and founder of Pages of Poetry™, which began as an online poetry competition and is now evolving into a global platform and creative company. From books and music to film, live shows, and scholarships, Pages of Poetry empowers survivors and storytellers to own their narratives and transform pain into purpose.

Through her podcast Healing Her Halo, her music, and her movement, Patience creates safe space for the misunderstood, the misrepresented, and the miracle-minded. Her work is rooted in faith, fueled by purpose, and grounded in the belief that healing is holy—and art is one of its purest forms.

Her story reminds us:

You can be shattered and still sing.
You can be broken and still build.
And even when the world tells you your story doesn’t fit—
You can tell it anyway.

A Voice That Heals, Hits, and Holds You

Pae Murray is a genre-bending singer-songwriter and survivor whose sound lives at the intersection of soul, alternative pop, indie, R&B, and hip hop. Her music is raw, poetic, and emotionally intelligent — grounded in truth and wrapped in rhythm.

Every song she writes is a reflection of her lived experience — from trauma to transformation, pain to power. A survivor of the Pulse Nightclub mass shooting, Pae doesn’t just make music to cope — she makes it to connect. Her voice speaks for the overlooked, the misunderstood, and the miracle-minded.

Her growing catalog includes:

  • “Recall” – a hauntingly honest exploration of memory, heartbreak, and emotional residue.

  • “Alchemy” – a gritty yet graceful blend of hip hop-inspired cadence and soulful vocals that turns pain into power.

  • “You” – a stripped-back, R&B-leaning love letter with 90s flavor and gospel undertones.

  • “Sign” – an atmospheric blend of indie, hip hop percussion, and spiritual searching — asking the universe for clarity and peace.

  • “Pen Cry” – her most powerful release to date, a collaborative track with GRAMMY®-nominated poet Ty Scott King. This spoken word-infused anthem honors Black women survivors, using soulful melodies and hip hop-rooted rhythm to reclaim space and speak truth. It’s not just a song — it’s a movement in sound.

Pae’s music isn’t about fitting in — it’s about breaking through. With every verse, she creates space for grief, joy, faith, doubt, and healing to coexist. Her flow is introspective. Her lyrics cut deep. And her delivery is the kind that stays with you.

Whether singing, speaking, or spitting bars of truth — Pae Murray doesn’t just perform.
She ministers. She mirrors. She moves.
